The Helix Trio was founded in Basel on the year 2022 by the pianist Paula Belzunegui Moreno, the violinist Jaume Angelès Fité, and the cellist Guillermo Ortega Santos. Being already musicians with a wide experience in the field of chamber music, the Helix Trio is born with the ambition of becoming an outstanding ensemble in its generation in this musical field, combining a historically informed approach with a high interest in the most recent music of our times.
HELIX TRIO
ABOUT US
In September 2024, the Helix Trio was awarded the prestigious Filippo Nicosia Award in Italy, a recognition that includes the opportunity to perform several concerts in the country. This achievement adds to other important awards such as the ORPHEUS Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2022 in Switzerland and the "La Flama" Competition 2023 in Vic, consolidating the trio as one of the most promising ensembles of its generation.
Formed in 2022 at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW Basel, the Helix Trio consists of Jaume Angelès Fité (violin), Guillermo Ortega Santos (cello), and Paula Belzunegui Moreno (piano). They are currently under the tutelage of renowned professors such as Anton Kernjak, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Zoltán Fejérvári, Silvia Simionescu, and Anna Gebert as part of the Ergänzungsstudium program. Additionally, their artistic development continues under the guidance of Rafael Rosenfeld and Rainer Schmidt.
Since July 2023, the Helix Trio has been a member of the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy) and is part of the Le Dimore del Quartetto network, which allows them to engage with an international high-level environment. During the 2024-2025 season, the trio will perform at the Auditori de Barcelona, among other concert halls.
The trio has been invited to major festivals such as the Piano Trio Fest (Bern), the Swiss Chamber Music Festival (Adelboden), and the Musikdorf Ernen Festival, and made their debut at the prestigious Palau de la Música Catalana in 2023.
Throughout their career, the Helix Trio has worked with distinguished chamber music figures, participating in masterclasses with musicians such as Steven Isserlis, Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet), Anthony Marwood, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt, Vera Martínez Mehner, Robert Levin, Eckart Runge, Oliver Wille (Kuss Quartet), Antonio Valentino, Simone Gramaglia, Miriam Fried, and Heinz Holliger.
